Christmas in Waterbury 

 The Connecticut Giants played Santa Clause in Waterbury this year,

providing care packages to 14 families burnt out of their homes this winter.

GITC AND THE CONNECTICUT GIANTS: 

The Connecticut Giants Football, LLC (“CTGiants”) was created in 1997 as a AAA semi-pro football program playing out of Stamford, Connecticut.  From the outset, the CTGiants operated under a charter focused on establishing a strong community based program in Southern Connecticut, and providing a fun and affordable venue for local athletes to showcase their talents.  Similarly, the CTGiants actively nurture youth athletic programs through clinics and recreational events, and in general, work to encourage a sense of community in Fairfield and New Haven Counties by promoting community involvement, sportsmanship and youth athletics.  (See http://www.ctgiants.com)

Not only have the CTGiants been successful on the field (11-3 in 2005, Undefeated in both 2006 and 2007), the team has also achieved great success with its community service goals.  For instance, the CTGiants have sponsored NFL Punt Pass and Kick competitions in Bridgeport, Red Cross Blood Drives in Stamford and Milford, and youth football clinics in Ridgefield, Redding, New Canaan and Milford.  As with other sports organizations in our nation, the CTGiants also coordinated with local charity groups to raise money for the victims of the WTC attack. 

Significantly, in November 2004 the CTGiants formalized its community service work through the creation of the "Giants In The Community" program (“GITC”).  GITC is a separate 501(c)(3) organization that exists in parallel with the CTGiants.  Through GITC the team has participated in a host of charitable events, including an “Adopt a Child for Christmas” event with the Bridgeport Housing Authority, and a Thanksgiving food drive for the Pivot Ministries Drug & Alcohol Rehabilitation Center in Norwalk, Connecticut.

COMMUNITY SUPPORT/SPONSORSHIP:

The CTGiants and GITC are accepting support from individuals and community organizations.  The team hopes that your organization will help us achieve our objectives on and off the field, and be part of our effort to present quality semi-professional football through the CTGiants, and support our community through GITC.  Sponsorship of the CTGiants and/or GITC may be tax deductible.

Father, thank you for the privilege and ability to play the game we love.  Thank you for the the overall safety we have enjoyed.  Be with those who've been injured.  Bless each man and family represented here.  Help us, Father, to fight as hard in the real world for the things that really matter - family, friends, community, all that is right and good - as we fought for victory on this field today.  Give us the grace and courage required to do so.    Amen.
