The Connecticut Giants Semi-Pro Football is now 2-0 after
defeating the Brooklyn Jazz yesterday 15-0 in Brooklyn. The CTGiants scored early on a five minute,
80 yard drive highlighted by two long runs by Billy Fletcher, capped off by 4
yard TD run by fullback Keith Welch. The
CTGiants scored again in the third on a QB keeper by Mel Stovall. Despite having over 250 yards in offense,
three missed field goals and a few weather-related miscues kept the CTGiants’ score
low. The CTGiants’ defense stifled the
Jazz, limiting them to 45 yards in offense.
Off the field, the CTGiants conducted a skills clinic for
the Aspetuck Wildcats Pop Warner Football Program on August 10 at Helen Keller Middle School in Easton. Almost 100 kids
attended, and the clinic was covered by News12.
Plans are in the works for a “Wildcats night” at a CTGiant home game in
September.
The CTGiants next game is Saturday, August 21 at the
Rockland Bruins. The next home game is
Saturday August 28 at 7 PM at Milford’s Jonathan Law High School. Admission is $8
for adults, free for kids 12 and under.
Season tickets are available.
